Ordinance 2008-02
An Ordinance providing for a rate schedule for ambulance services provided by the West Peculiar Fire Protection District.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors have determined it necessary and desirable for reimbursement of the expenses of the West Peculiar Fire Protection District relating to ambulance services that the West Peculiar Fire Protection District shall adopt a fee schedule.
NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE WEST PECULIAR FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby adopted by the Board of Directors for the West Peculiar Fire Protection District.
For the purpose of reimbursement of expenses related to the operation of the West Peculiar Fire Protection District ambulance service. A fee schedule will be set forth, which will comply with the provisions of the April 2002 Medicare Limiting Fee Schedule for Ambulance Services. This ordinance will be in effect for any ambulance service rendered by West Peculiar Fire Protection District either within or outside of the boundaries of the West Peculiar Fire Protection District.
Section 2. Residents of the West Peculiar Fire Protection District will be charged full rate for ambulance services, but will only be responsible for “reimbursable” expenses (those paid by the insurance company). Residents of the West Peculiar Fire Protection District will be responsible for no “out of pocket” expenses other than applicable deductibles required by the insurer. The West Peculiar Fire Protection District will require “Medicare / Medicaid assignment” only for residents of the West Peculiar Fire Protection District.
Section 3. “Resident” is defined as those who live within the West Peculiar Fire Protection District as their “primary residence”.
Section 4. Relatives of those who are West Peculiar Fire Protection District residents must reside in the same physical residence as the resident.
Section 5. Those who are on the property of a resident where ambulance services are initiated, but are not themselves residents do not qualify as a resident and will be charged the full rate for ambulance services.
Section 6. “Mileage” is defined as miles that were driven by the ambulance while loaded with a patient. The mileage is determined by utilizing the zip code of the initial “pick-up” location to the hospital, or a chart utilizing West Peculiar Fire Protection District map boxes to the destination, or by actual mileage determined by odometer reading on the ambulance.
Section 7. Ambulance fees are as follows:
I. Base Rate --- The rate for ambulance transportation is $825.00.
This rate is inclusive of all disposable supplies, medications, IV solutions, and other equipment.
II. Mileage --- Mileage is figured as follows:
First 18 miles --- $9.00 per loaded mile.
Additional miles --- $6.00 per loaded mile.
III. Air Transport Stabilization Fee --- $750.00
IV. Treatment / No – Transport Fee --- $200.00 when supplies and/or pharmaceuticals are used.
Section 8. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of passage and approval. This ordinance Repeals and Replaces West Peculiar Fire Protection District ordinance number 2005-02.
